Jonah Travis surprised many in college basketball circles by selecting a scholarship offer from Harvard among several mid-majors on Friday. Head coach Tommy Amaker was unable to comment on Travis’ commitment because of NCAA rules preventing coaches from discussing specific recruits prior to their signature on the National Letter of Intent. The commitment, like any others to Harvard, is pending until Travis qualifies for admission to one of the toughest schools in the country. While PantherU is saddened that he won’t be putting on the black and gold, we wish him all the best in his future at Harvard and beyond.
The news was reported on NBE Basketball Report, the same recruiting site that came out with other news. Shelby Moats, who has standing offers from Milwaukee and Green Bay and recently picked up an offer from Butler, just received a scholarship offer from Keno Davis and Providence of the Big East. Moats, who has told PantherU that the timing of an offer is not important, now has picked up an eighth east coast scholarship offer; other “high” majors offering Moats include his hometown Minnesota Golden Gophers and the Iowa Hawkeyes of the Big Ten conference.
