In case you haven’t looked at the right sidebar of PantherU.com, you should probably do so now. As it stands, Sarah Hagen of the women’s soccer team is tied with Lisa Krz…(polish suffix) for the all-time record in Milwaukee school history and Horizon League/MCC history. Just kidding, it’s Krzykowski. The thrilling loss to Texas (overtime!) left the Panthers coming home looking for a boost. That boost comes next Friday.
In what can only be described as the biggest weekend of the semester so far, both soccer teams are at home, as is the volleyball program that is off to an undefeated start in the Horizon League (luckily escaping a determined Valpo team last night).
This is a call to all Panthers, in the area, to show up next Friday night when Sarah Hagen attempts to break the scoring record. It will be the first match on the new Engelmann Field, it’s Family Weekend for the university, and the first chance the freshmen get to experience the one-and-only experience college soccer’s most storied venue.
Don’t like soccer? Fine. Take two hours out of your Friday night to come and show support for Hagen, who very well might go down as one of the greatest athletes to ever attend our Alma Mater. She deserves a packed stadium as she attempts to break the biggest record in Horizon League soccer history.
The next night is the Chancellor’s Cup, which will be our first such game against Green Bay since Carlos Santiago left the school. Will Dr. Michael Lovell, our interim chancellor, be there? I don’t know, he hasn’t gotten back to me yet, but being a big Panther fan, I think he’s coming.
It’s just a huge weekend for Panther athletics overall, and we have the chance to make it even bigger by packing Engelmann Field for three straight days. I’m calling you out, will you answer?
